BACKGROUND


The Dallas Wings are a professional basketball team based in Arlington, Texas, playing in the Western Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team was founded in Detroit, Michigan before the 1998 WNBA season began; the team moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma before the 2010 season; then moved to Dallas prior to the start of the 2016 season. The Dallas Wings play home games at the College Park Center on the University of Texas at Arlington campus.


In recent years, the organization has continued to invest in its future with the development of a new state-of-the-art practice facility and plans for a new arena, both of which underscore the team's long-term commitment to the Dallas-Fort Worth region and the growth of women's professional basketball.


SUMMARY

 

The Vice President, Corporate Partnerships will be responsible for driving revenue through the strategic development, acquisition, and management of high-value sponsorships and integrated brand partnerships. This individual will be a strategic thinker responsible for maximizing the value of the team’s full portfolio of assets, including entitlements, IP rights, in-game signage, digital and social media, hospitality, and other partnership inventory.


The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of success in sponsorship sales, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a deep understanding of the sports and entertainment ecosystem. This is a results-driven leader who thrives on generating new business opportunities at the local, regional, and national level while delivering innovative, impactful solutions for partners and stakeholders.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Prospect and close new corporate sponsorships/partnerships for the Dallas Wings.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and marketing executives at targeted brands to identify, cultivate, and close new partnership opportunities.
  • Work with leadership to develop the commercial partnership strategy, manage the annual budget, and define performance metrics for sponsorship initiatives.
  • Develop unique and customized proposals and sales presentations for new business prospects.
  • Host and entertain prospective clients at specific Wings’ events.
  • Communicate well across all areas of the company including broadcast, accounting, marketing, community relations, and ticket operations.
  • Work closely with the Partnership Activation team to ensure that current clients receive superior service and complete fulfillment of every contract detail.


QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in sports sponsorship sales, with a proven track record of successfully closing six & seven figure deals.
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively influence and communicate with all internal and external clients, especially C-Level executives.
  • Strong sales aptitude, as well as the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team. 
  • High-level contacts at target partners, particularly companies with partnership or premium hospitality portfolio. 
  • Results-driven, analytical, forward thinking and self-motivated, with a passion for exceeding targets and driving business growth. 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities with excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and well organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Willingness to travel as needed for various projects and meetings.
